Welcome to WindNew Zealand's premier site for getting wind information from around the country We provide a lot of information for free on the web and then use the money from the TXT2WIND service to pay for the operation of the site. If you are using the site, and getting value out of it...send a message, you will get the information you need while keeping the site growing. *NEW* March 30, 2010 2degrees has been up and running for a while and due to their great progress in gaining market share I have obtained the shortcode for 2degrees. Now you can get the latest wind updateds by texting your favourite sensor code to wind (9463) using your 2degrees mobile. October 7, 2009 Well is the windy time of the year, and what a blast we have had in wellington. I've lost a few readings so will be going out to check the units as part of the spring clean, so shouldn't be too long to get that all back up and running. Its been pretty solid so I've been slow in getting to them The FREE part of the site, displays data at 3 hourly intervals...make sure that you check the 'time' of the data, as some have been caught out. Registered users, get some data in Auckland and Wellington in 5 minute intervals. The rest of the data is at hourly intervals. You can also TXT to get the last reading. NOTE: We have disabled the Metservice hour by hour forecast, as from the user feedback and our own analysis...the wind calculation at this interval really wasn't adding anymore value that the standard marine forecast, which is very good at updated every Six hours. We have dropped the price accordingly as we aren't paying for that data, so neither should you. We still have to charge a nominal fee to support the operation, and to cover the Metservice's fee's and operation which is why the free data is generally 3 hourly. A few of the wind.co sensors are still free for every 5 minutes.
